Styled by me with studio lighting - I’ll offer tips on presentation that will help show your dishes in their best light. I can bring limited props and backgrounds.

FAQs

1) ‘Why can’t I take photos of my food on my phone if it’s just for Instagram?’

Let’s face it, phone photos by amateurs have about as much appeal as food cooked by amateurs. While phones these days are amazing, it still comes down to an understanding of composition, light, shadow, styling and how to best showcase a given dish. It takes a trained eye to capture your dish in its best light. That’s where I come in. In the years I’ve been a food photographer, I’ve shot for over 700 restaurants, some elaborately staged and others within two hours. Hiring a professional ensures you get accurate colour and lighting using professional gear.

2) How many photos will I receive?

This will all be covered in the photo brief. Each shoot is different, but I’ve found that I can usually keep up with even the fastest kitchen’s output. Typically, you can expect me to shoot around 20 dishes per hour unless they need further styling. I shoot a variety of images for each dish, so you can expect to receive several versions of each.

3) Can you really make my marketing more effective while saving me time and money?

Yes! When you hire a professional food photographer, you get a lot more than images that can simply be used as web and social media content. Professional photography equipment means that you will receive both high and low resolution images, inclusively. High resolution images allow you to submit quality images to magazines, publishers and even broadcasters when generating PR for your business. Design and advertising agencies also need to work with high resolution images when you place an advert (smartphone and consumer camera images will not be accepted). This is yet another reason why we encourage our clients to shoot their food professionally and save money in the long run, as the task only needs to be performed once.
